Milan was born in 1876.  Milan's father was Antun Bišćan and his mother was Alojzija Šmidhen (Bišćan).  His maternal grandparents were Ljudevit Šmidhen and Jelisava Šmidhen. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Ignac, Antun, Franjo, Ankica and Betika.  He died at the age of 74 in 1950.
