Abel James was born on October 26th, 1835 in Stisted, Essex. Abel James' father was John TOBIAS and his mother was Mary Ann PEARCE.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel TOBIAS and Elizabeth WAKEFIELD. He had five brothers and a sister, named William Cain, Seth George, Charles Enos, Robert Enoch, Arthur and Susan.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 38 on May 18th, 1874.  He was buried on May 20th, 1874 in Bright Cemetery, Victoria.1
