Arthur's father was George Stacey and his mother was Georgina Zara Clayton. His paternal grandparents were John Stacey and Mary Ann Brophy; his maternal grandparents were George Clayton and Sarah Bates. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Alfred, Ernest, Sarah and Emma. He was the second youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 52 on November 28th, 1942 in Liverpool, NSW. The funeral took place on November 28th, 1942 in Metropolitan Funeral Chapel, 44-46 Enmore Road, Newtown NSW and was arranged by Metropolitan Burial and Cremation Society Pty. Ltd., Railway Parade, Burwood NSW. He was buried on November 28th, 1942 in Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park (CofE), Botany, NSW.²
