- NSW Birth Cert No. V18552189 42A/1855 states that, in 1885, Joseph C NICKSON was born in Sydney. His father's name was John H NICKSON and his mother's name was Ann NICKSON (nee Clayton).

Joseph's father was John Horatio Nickson and his mother was Ann (Anne) C A Clayton. His maternal grandparents were Joseph Clayton and Elizabeth Allmon. He had two brothers named John and Thomas. He was the youngest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named James, Arthur and Ann. He died at the age of 2 in 1887 in Newtown, NSW.¹
