Harold's father was Thomas Nickson and his mother was Mary Catherine Smith. His paternal grandparents were John Horatio Nickson and Ann (Anne) C A Clayton. He had two brothers named John and Page. He was the oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 41 in 1921 in Redfern, NSW.¹
