- NSW Birth Cert No. 381/1860 states that, in 1860, Julia B MATTERSON was born in Sydney. Her father's name was Thomas N MATTERSON and her mother's name was Elizabeth MATTERSON (nee Clayton).

Julia's father was Thomas Neales C Matterson and her mother was Elizabeth Clayton. Her maternal grandparents were Joseph Clayton and Elizabeth Allmon. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Charles, Joseph, George, Anna, Sarah and Harriet. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named John and Mary. She died at the age of 76 on January 15th, 1936 in Stanmore Private Hospital, Stanmore, NSW.²
