Nina's father was David Mackenzie and her mother was Alice Maud Mary Clayton. Her maternal grandparents were Joseph Richard Clayton and Mary Ann(e) Hayes. She had two sisters named Linda and Alma. She was the oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 1 in 1887 in 34 Monomeeth Street, Bexley, Sydney NSW.¹
