Thomas was born on October 16th, 1848 in George St, Sydney NSW and his baptism took place on November 3rd, 1848 in St Lawrence Church, Sydney NSW.1   Thomas' father was William A B Lea and his mother was Mary J Fairclough. He had a brother named Charles.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 41 on April 3rd, 1890 in 41 Begg St, Paddington, NSW.  He was buried on April 3rd, 1890 in Camperdown Cemetery, NSW.1 1
