- The following information provided by Reg & Anne SherlockGREEN, states that Mary Ann GREEN was born 09 Feb 1812 at Shadwell, Middlesex, England

Mary's father was Amaziah John Green and her mother was Mary Ann Chapel. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Green and Betty Matthewman. She had four brothers and four sisters, named William, George, Henry, Thomas, Maria, Sarah, Charlotte and Georgina. She was the third oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 64 on August 24th, 1877 in Thames St, Balmain, Sydney. The funeral took place on August 26th, 1877 in Thames Street, Balmain, Sydney NSW and was arranged by C. KINSELA and SONS, George-street.. She was buried on August 26th, 1877 in Balmain Cemetery, Sydney, NSW.³¹

- NSW Death Cert No. 2131/1877 states that, in 1877, Mary A BATES (nee Green) died in thr Balmain district. Her father's name was Amaziah GREEN and her mother's name was Mary Ann GREEN (nee Chapel).
