Henry was born in 1817 in England and his christening took place on January 19th, 1817 in St Giles Anglican Church, Camberwell, Surry, England.1   Henry's father was Amaziah John Green and his mother was Mary Ann Chapel.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Green and Betty Matthewman. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William, George, Thomas, Mary, Maria, Sarah, Charlotte and Georgina.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
