Lydia Ann Clayton

Lydia was born in 1846 in Windsor, NSW.¹ Lydia's father was George Clayton and her mother was Sarah Bates. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Clayton and Elizabeth Allmon; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Bates and Ann Griffin. She had a brother and seven sisters, named Joseph, Anne or Ann, Martha, Sarah, Julia, Georgina, Polly and Ada. She was the oldest of the nine children. She died due to heart disease, Auricular Fibrillation, at the age of 80 on March 4th, 1926 in Mental Hospital, Callan Park, Leichhardt Municipality, NSW. The funeral took place on March 5th, 1926 in Roman Catholic Cemetery, Waverley, NSW and was arranged by Wood Coffill Ltd. She was buried on March 5th, 1926 in Roman Catholic Cemetery, Waverley, NSW.²²

- NSW Death Cert No. 2221/1926 states that Lydia A CUFFLEY died in 1926 in the Balmain District. Her father's name was George CLAYTON and her mother's name was Sharh CLAYTON (nee Bates).

- Lydia and William West - still inserting notices in the Sydney Morning Herald, in Sept 1907.
  
  In 1909 notices were being inserted in the Sydney Morning Herald, under the name of Lydia and William S. Cuffley.
  In the SMH 9 July 1910 - A funeral notice of Joseph Thomas Clayton states that a Mrs Cuffley lived at 149 Young Street, Redfern.
  
  According to the The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW) - Thursday 20 May 1920...
  "Lydia Cuffley, aged 74 years, of Meade-street, Waterloo, suffered shock, when two trams collided at Waterloo at about 11 o'clock. She was a passanger on one of the trams as it approached the McEvoy Street stop while travelling along Elizabeth street. 14 other people were also injured."
