- NSW Birth Cert. No. 243/1876 states that, in 1876, the birth of Louise Fortnan CLAYTON was registered in Sydney NSW. Her father's name was Joseph Richard CLAYTON and her mother's name was Mary Ann CLAYTON (nee Hayes).

Louisa's father was Joseph Richard Clayton and her mother was Mary Ann(e) Hayes. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Clayton and Elizabeth Allmon. She had three brothers and eight sisters, named Joseph, John, Horatio, Elizabeth, Emily, Julia, Alice, Frances, Mary, Ada and Edith. She was the youngest of the twelve children. She had a half-brother named Joseph. She died at the age of 86 in 1962 in Rockdale, NSW.¹
