George Clayton

George was born on August 20th, 1826 in Sussex St Sydney NSW and his baptism took place on December 25th, 1826 in St Philips CofE Church Sydney NSW conducted by minister William Cowper.¹²

  NSW Birth Cert No. V18267770 1C/1826 (and V18267770 1C/1826 ) state that the birth of George CLAYTON was registered in 1926. His father's name was listed as George(?) CLAYTON and his mother's name was Elizabeth CLAYTON).

George's father was Joseph Clayton and his mother was Elizabeth Allmon. His maternal grandparents were William Allmon and Elizabeth Wells. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Thomas, James, Anne and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the six children. He had two half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Peter, Thomas, Maria, Matilda, Caroline, Julia, Julia, Sarah and Mary. He died at the age of 62 on January 26th, 1889 in 669 Bourke Street, Surry Hills, Sydney NSW. The funeral took place on January 29th, 1889 and was arranged by H Mason, Jun. Undertaker 74 Oxford Street, Sydney. He was buried on January 29th, 1889 in Camperdown Cemetery St Stephens, Church St, Newtown NSW.³⁴
