Alice's father was James Clayton and her mother was Alice E. Her paternal grandparents were James Clayton and Jane Raper. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Tom, William, Sydney, William, James, George, John, Adelaide, Sadie, Elsie and Julia. She died at the age of 65 on April 25th, 1949 in Private Hospital, 18 Henderson Road, Hurstville NSW.²
