Ann's father was James Augustus Black and her mother was Ann (Anne) C A Clayton. Her maternal grandparents were Joseph Clayton and Elizabeth Allmon. She had two brothers named James and Arthur. She was the oldest of the three children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Thomas, Joseph and Fanny. She died at the age of 5 on September 24th, 1863. She was buried in September 1863 in Camperdown Cemetery St Stephens, Church St, Newtown NSW.¹¹
