Maria Martha Bates

Maria was born on January 19th, 1855 in Sydney NSW.¹ Maria's father was William Bates and her mother was Mary Ann Green. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Bates and Ann Griffin; her maternal grandparents were Amaziah John Green and Mary Ann Chapel. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, William, James, Nathaniel, George, Mary, Sarah, Alice, Charlotte and Martha. She was the third youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 57 in 1912 in Balmain, Sydney NSW.¹
