George Robert Bates

George was born on March 3rd, 1858 in Balmain, Sydney NSW.¹ George's father was William Bates and his mother was Mary Ann Green. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Bates and Ann Griffin; his maternal grandparents were Amaziah John Green and Mary Ann Chapel. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, William, James, Nathaniel, Mary, Sarah, Alice, Charlotte, Martha and Maria. He was the youngest of the eleven children. He died at 1 months old on April 27th, 1858 in Sydney NSW. He was buried in Devonshire Street (Central) Cemetery, Sydney NSW.²¹
