  "A quiet wedding was solemnised at Mount Morgan on Friday. The bride was Miss Maggie Sheehan (of Rockhampton) and the bridegroom Mr. G. Hempenstall, of Mount Morgan. The Rev. Father Lane officiated, assisted by the Rev. Father Bucas. The bride wore a very becoming gown of white Swiss muslin, trimmed with soft lace and insertion ; a wreath and veil ; and she carried a lovely bouquet of white flowers. Her bridesmaid, Miss Reidon, wore a frock of embroidered white lawn, and a white picture hat. The bridegroom's gifts to both bride and bridesmaid were handsome gold bangles. The bride was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. L. Halberatater. Mr. and Mrs. Hempenstall passed through Rockhampton, en route to Emu Park, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride travelled in a frock of cinnamon tweed, and a wine-coloured hat."

    "Mr Kevin Lawrence Hempenstall died on Saturday in the Mt Morgan hospital after a short illness.
    His death will be felt deeply by relatives and a large number of friends. His father, Mr G. W. Hempenstall, is at present on a health holiday trip to England.
    For some years past Mr Hempenstall was a member of the working staff of Mt Morgan Ltd, and was at all times a keen supporter of any movement concerned with the progress and advancement of Mt Morgan, the town of his birth. He was a past president of the Hibernian Society, an active member and honorary secretary to the Tennis Association and hon. secretary also to the Miners' Phthisis Health Committee. He was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
    His sister, Cecily, now Mrs James Healy of Proserpine, and his brother Reg, of Childers, were with him at the time of his death."
