Jessie's father was Charles George Young and her mother was Elsie Margaret White. Her paternal grandparents were Charles George Ludwig Jung and Frances Mary Theresa Scott; her maternal grandparents were Robert Patrick White and Jessie Lachlan Cameron. She had two sisters named Florence and Isabella(Belle). She was the oldest of the three children.
