  • Qld Birth Cert No. 1866/C001812 Louis FEEREN - Mother was Ann Feeren aged 27 and father was Adolf Halberstaedter aged 34 years.
    His parents were not married at this time. Louis's family name was listed at the time of his birth as FEEREN but was later changed to HALBERSTATER.
    - On his marriage and death certificates, mother's name is spelt as Ann Fern.

  • QLD Death Cert No. 1942/C5127 states that ,in 1942, Louis Halberstater died. His father's name was Adolph Halberstaedter and his mother's name was Ann Halberstaedter (nee Feran or Fearon orn Feron).
    
    Both Louis and his wife, Mary, are buried at Mt Morgan Cemetry, Central Queensland.

    "Mr. Louis Halberstater, 76, died at his home, Dee Street, Mt. Morgan. He was a master butcher in Mt. Morgan for many years, and had grazing interests in the Dawson Valley. He was a member of the former Mt. Morgan Town   Council, and was Mayor in 1916. Besides owning several prominent racehorses, he was first secretary of the Mt. Morgan Jockey Club. He is survived by his widow, three sons, Dr. L. Halberstater (Townsville), Mr. C. Halberstater (Nanango), and Mr. A. Halberstater (St. Lawrence), and one daughter, Mrs. F. G. Walsh (Sydney)."

    "DEATH OF MR LOUIS HALBERSTATER
    The death occurred yesterday afternoon at his residence. Dee Street, Mount Morgan, of Mr Louis Halberstater, a well-respected citizen of 50 years' standing. Born at Rockhampton 76 years ago, Mr Halberstater came to Mount Morgan is the early days of the township. In 1900 he married Miss Mary Sheehan, formerly of the Queensland Education Department, and sister of Mrs G. Hempenstall, Mount Morgan. For many years Mr Halberstater was a master butcher in Mount Morgan and in addition conducted grazing interests in the Dawson Valley. He was a member of the now defunct Mount Morgan Town Council, being Mayor in 1916. A keen racing enthusiast, be was the first secretary of the Mount Morgan Jockey Club. He was a recognised horse-fancier and owned several notable performers, prominent among which were Viscount, Nola, and Bandolier. Mr Halberstater was also a keen bowler. In 1916 he took up a grazing property. Doreen, at St Lawrence, where his third son, Allan, assisted him in the management. Mr Halberstater was a keen Judge of cattle and secured numerous awards at Rockhampton Shows. He leaves a wife and a grown-up family (Dr L. Halberstater, Townsville; Mr C. Halberstater, Nanango; Mr A. Halberstater, St Lawrence; and Mrs G. Walsh, Sydney). A brother, Mr Maurice Halberstater, a well-known grazier in the Dawson Valley, died some years ago. The funeral will move from the Sacred Heart Church, Gordon Street. Mount Morgan, at 11 o'clock this morning."
