Bernard William Halberstater

Bernard, known as Bill, was born on September 24th, 1915 in "Wongalee" on Black Gully, near Mt Morgan delivered by 'Granny Clements' - mid-wife.

Bill's father was Maurice Joseph Halberstater and his mother was Elizabeth (Lizzie) Margaret O'Donnell. His paternal grandparents were Adolf Halberstaedter and Ann Feran; his maternal grandparents were William John O'Donnell and Mary Anne Clancy. He had two brothers and a sister, named Kevin, Jack and Mamie. He was the youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 87 on June 9th, 2003.

  "Just letting you know Uncle Bill Halberstater died yesterday afternoon 9-6-03 in Rockhampton.
  He's the last of that generation of Halbs. on ours (Maurice) and Louis
  except for Aunty Betty - Jack's wife and Gerrard's mother. She is
  still alive and is the only in-law remaining.
  He had been quite ill for a few years but had a fall in April and just didn't
  recover. Was only 43 kg which is terrible.
  Think the funeral will be Friday 13-6-03 as the Rockly show is opn Thursday.
