William was born on September 20th, 1859 in Stratfield Saye.  William's father was Daniel WHEELER and his mother was Charlotte ALLEN.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel ILSLEY and Frances WHEELER; his maternal grandparents were Thomas ALLEN and Jane. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George, James, Daniel, Elizabeth, Ann and Cecilia.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 86 in 1945.
