William was born in 1806 in Arrington and his baptism took place there on October 5th, 1806.  William's father was Thomas WAGSTAFF and his mother was Mary Ann WILSON.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas WAGSTAFF and Sarah ALLEN. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, George, Joseph, Mary, Caroline and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 81 in 1887 in Caxton.
