Harry was born on September 9th, 1890 in Barking St Mary.  Harry's father was Arthur John THORPE and his mother was Elizabeth LAMBERT.  His paternal grandparents were Henry THORPE and Mary MULLET; his maternal grandparents were Thomas LAMBERT and Harriet HARVEY. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Arthur, Frederick, Sydney, Grace, Kathleen, Augusta and Eve.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 81 in 1971 in Gripping.
