William was born in 1830 in Huddersfield.  William's father was John SWALLOW and his mother was Margaret FIRTH. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Edwin, Isaac, Abraham, William, Ellen, Mary, Hannah, Emma and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 24 in 1854 in Huddersfield.
