Jose was born on July 4th, 1880.  Jose's father was Joseph PODESTA and his mother was Maria TORRES.  His paternal grandparents were Vincent PODESTA and Maria DE SOISA. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Almando, Alejandro, Albert, Federico, Vincente, Miguel, Maria, Victoria and Luisa.  He was the oldest of the ten children.
