Samuel was born on March 23rd, 1732 in Glemsford.  Samuel's father was Richard MORTLOCK and his mother was Elizabeth.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel MORTLOCK and Martha HOWARD. He had two brothers named Richard and Robert.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 65 on April 24th, 1797 in Shimpling.
