Phillip was born on February 2nd, 1750 in Great Cornard.  Phillip's father was Peter MORTLOCK and his mother was Ann MITCHELL.  His paternal grandparents were John MORTLOCK and Elizabeth TIFFEN. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Peter, Richard, Peter, Richard, Mitchell, John, Thomas and Ann.  He was the eighth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 76 on December 10th, 1826 in Great Cornard.
