Ann was born on March 13th, 1740 in Glemsford.  Ann's father was Peter MORTLOCK and her mother was Ann MITCHELL.  Her paternal grandparents were John MORTLOCK and Elizabeth TIFFEN. She had eight brothers named Peter, Richard, Peter, Richard, Mitchell, John, Phillip and Thomas.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
