Anne was born on March 6th, 1795 in Orpington and her christening took place there on April 3rd, 1795.  Anne's father was John JEAL and her mother was Susannah WHIFFEN.  Her paternal grandparents were William JEAL and Elizabeth TODMAN. She had nine brothers named Adolphus, Alpheus, John, William, Charles, Tiras, Richard, Phillip and Harvey.  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.
