Joseph was born on December 9th, 1867 and his baptism took place on January 20th, 1868 at St Mary the Crowned.  Joseph's father was Salvador GARCIA and his mother was Leonor Sebastiana ENRIGO.  His paternal grandparents were Fransisco GARCIA and Juana MAESTRE; his maternal grandparents were Pascual Mario ENRIGO and Teresa OLIVERA. He had a brother and seven sisters, named Manuel, Salvador, Teresa, Juana, Leonor, Encarnacion, Elisa and Magdalena.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
