William was born in 1835 in Kintbury.  William's father was John FISHER and his mother was Phoebe BENNETT. He had three brothers and five sisters, named George, Thomas, Arthur, Sarah, Elizabeth, Caroline, Ellen and Emma.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.
