George was born in 1833 in Kintbury.  George's father was John FISHER and his mother was Phoebe BENNETT. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William, Thomas, Arthur, Sarah, Elizabeth, Caroline, Ellen and Emma.  He was the oldest of the nine children.
