Alfred was born in 1843 in Edwardstone and his christening took place there on September 16th, 1843.  Alfred's father was Robert DEATH and his mother was Elizabeth EVERETT.  His paternal grandparents were Robert DEATH and Jemima SMITH. He had three brothers and two sisters, named George, Walter, David, Susannah and Kate.  He was the oldest of the six children.
