Louisa was born in 1833 in Stratfield Saye.  Louisa's father was Richard COX and her mother was Keziah HATTO.  Her paternal grandparents were John COX and Elizabeth GRANTHAM; her maternal grandparents were John HATTO and Ann PRYOR. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Charles, Walter, Eleanor, Ann, Letitia and Lucy.  She was the fifth oldest of the eight children.
