Edith was born on June 20th, 1870 in Beech Hill.  Edith's father was Edward COX and her mother was Ann WHEELER.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard COX and Keziah HATTO; her maternal grandparents were Daniel WHEELER and Charlotte ALLEN. She had seven brothers named Samuel, George, William, John, Arthur, Walter and Albert.  She was the sixth oldest of the eight children. She had five half-brothers and a half-sister, named James, Alfred, Henry, Benjamin, Edwin and Mary.
