William was born in 1833 in Lurgashall.  William's father was Thomas BOXALL and his mother was Mary HAMBLETON.  His paternal grandparents were John BOXALL and Unknown. He had four sisters named Mary, Susan, Jane and Lucy.  He was the second oldest of the five children.
