Susan was born in 1838 in Lurgashall.  Susan's father was Thomas BOXALL and her mother was Mary HAMBLETON.  Her paternal grandparents were John BOXALL and Unknown. She had a brother and three sisters, named William, Mary, Jane and Lucy.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
