Mary was born in 1831 in Lurgashall.  Mary's father was Thomas BOXALL and her mother was Mary HAMBLETON.  Her paternal grandparents were John BOXALL and Unknown. She had a brother and three sisters, named William, Susan, Jane and Lucy.  She was the oldest of the five children.
