Molly was born on August 15th, 1915 in Ramsey and her baptism took place on October 17th, 1915 in Great Oakley.

Molly's father was George Arthur BOWERS and her mother was Ellen Jane BRITTON. Her paternal grandparents were Henry BIRD and Mary Ann BOWERS. She had six brothers and four sisters, named William, Stanley, Percy, Frank, Ralph, Dennis, Edith, Hilda, Ruby and Peggy. She was the fourth oldest of the eleven children.
