Thomas was born in 1609 in Thorpe Morieux and his baptism took place there on January 16th, 1609.  Thomas' father was Thomas BIXBY and his mother was Alice ROOKE. He had two brothers and six sisters, named William, William, Alice, Anne, Mary, Jane, Jane and Eliza.  He was the oldest of the nine children.
