George was born on September 26th, 1896 in Great Waldingfield and his baptism took place there on December 13th, 1896. George's father was Charles Ranson BIRD and his mother was Josephine Hephizbah CHATTERS. His paternal grandparents were George BIRD and Elizabeth RANSON. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Alfred, Charles, Florence, Lilian, Rose, Violet, Alice, Beatrice and Maggie. He was the nineth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 64 on November 5th, 1960.
