NeighborNeighbours in 1861 Lives withIn 1851, John Mather (73, a retired farmer from Breightment) was living with his daughter Ellen (40) and son-in-law (shown as "Step-father") Joseph Phethean (48). OtherThomas and his son Ralph's family graves are adjacent in St Peter's Church burial ground, Halliwell, Lancashire (GPR Ref: 354115 and 354116). 1773 Ann Brabin Daughter of James and Ann 1797 Betty Mather It's quite possible Betty had a daughter Alice Mather, baptised 12 Spe 1824 at Darcey Lever. No fathers name is given. 1798 Alice Mather 1799 - 1800 Hannah Mather 1 1 1842 Mary Ann Mather In 1860 Mary Mather married Edmund Lever, and then in 1864. Mary A Mather married William Leach, both at Bolton St John. 1844 John Mather 1845 - 1847 Harriet Mather 1 1 1831 Fanny Mather There's a Fanny Mather, born 22 Oct 1835 (Dau of John and Mary) and baptised at Prestwich, Lancashire, who is probably the person who married Richard Hodson in 1863.

There is also a Fanny Mather, aged 7 in 1841, daughter of Thomas and Betty of Little Bolton.
1803 - 1842 Catherine Rawsthorn 39 39 When they married in 1826, James and Catharine Rawsthorn were both Spinners in Deane.  However, the children are baptised with abode Great Bolton.

After 1837, the births for James and Lavinia show the mother's maiden name as ROSTRON (not Rawsthorn).

In 1841, the family were at Corronation Street, Bolton.
Margret Rosethorn (60), probably Catherin's mother (TBC) was with them.
1837 James Mather James was living with his sister in 1851. 1827 - 1869 Jane Mather 42 42 31 May 1846, Jane Mather, a minor, daughter of James Mather a spinner, married Abraham Fitton, son of Robert, also a spinner 1829 - 1832 Lavinia Mather 2 2 Recorded as Laviness but probably should be Lavinia 1828 Peggy Mather In 1841, Peggy was 13 with her parents at Corronation Street, Bolton.  There was another Peggy aged 13 this year, daughter of Robert and Ann Mather from Turton. 1833 Henry Mather In 1841, Henry is with his parents, aged 8.

Henry appears to have been adopted by Betty Harner, who lists Henry as her son (age 15).
1836 James Mather Between 1834 and 1836, James (the father) moved to Little Bolton and became an Organist, as shown on his son's baptism. However, by 1837, he was a spinner again in G.B. 1840 - 1842 Lavinia Mather 2 2 WARNING: Another Lavinia, daughter of Jonathan and Charlotte Mather of Deansgate, Manchester was also born 1839 and died 1842, aged 2.

1826 Susannah Mather In 1841, Susannah was 15 and with parents at Corronation Street, Bolton.

Susannah had left home (married ? Fletcher) by 1851 and had a son Joshua (aged 2).  James (14), her brother was living with them, but the husband was absent.
1802 - 1804 Mary Mather 2 2 1803 - 1854 James Mather 51 51 James's parents are not confirmed, as there is no connection of this family to Breightmet.  The James from Breightmet could be Jacob Mather.  It's quite possible the James Mather that married Catherine is a brother of Holt Mather.  Both werre spinners and both had daughters named Lavinia.

In 1841, James (a spinner) and Catherine (both 35) were living at Corronation Street, West Bolton.  With them were Susannah (15), Jane (14), Peggy (13), Henry (8), James (4), Laviniah (1) and Margaret Rosthorn (60, possibly Catherine's aunt)

Sarah and James Clough (a counter point weaver) were at Roscoe Fold, Breightmet  in 1841 with John (10), James (8), Richard (6) and Ann (4).  James's (assumed) parents (John and Susan, both 60) were neighbours.
They were there in 1851 and by 1861, their daughter Ann (24) was head of house with younger brother samuel (17, a coal miner).

The 1851 census confirms that this Sarah was born Breightmet, 1805.
1774 - 1822 Ann Worsley 48 48 Mary, Janes and Sarah (b. 1802-1805) must be John & Ann family from Breightmet (between Bolton & Bury) compared to the one from Bolton.  There are two Marys and two James births. Also James and Mary baptisms only one month appart.  The closest John Mather and Ann (Worsley) Marriage is in Eccles.  There are baptisms for a John and Ann family in Eccles, but that I believe this is for a John Mather Ann Derbyshire Eccles marriage. 1813 - 1814 Mary Mather 10m 10m 1817 - 1818 Jane Mather 8m 8m 1815 - 1816 Martha Mather 9m 9m 1808 - 1880 Sarah Fielding 72 72 In 1861, Thomas (53), Sarah (52), and George (27) at 96 Liverpool St, East Bolton

There is ANOTHER a Fanny Maria Mather born in Everton, who appears on the 1841,51,61,71,81 census.  She cant be the same person as on the L.B. 1841 census.
