John and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on August 6th, 1804 at Manchester Cathedral by Joseph Brooks.¹

- The marriage records of Manchester Cathereral show John Buckley was from Manchester. This conflicts with census recores, so this marriage to Mary Leech is probably wrong. Alos, their youngest Sarah Ann Buckley was Baptized in Jan 1803, sou you would expect a marriage BEFORE 1803.
  
  However, their son Benjamin was married at Manchester Cathederal.

  As a wealthy Oil Sheet maker, this is quite possible. His youngest son Benjamin (also an Oil Sheet Maker) was Married in Manchester Catherdrial.

They had three sons and three daughters, named Cornelius, Jonathon, Benjamin, Sarah, Mary and Ellen. There are no more children.

Family Notes
- Possibly Mary Hurst (m. 1796), (i.e. not Mary Leach) which several others have.
  If so, then John and Mary are from Duckinfield, and they were married in Stockport.

  John was born about 1776 in Latham and his christening took place on June 2nd, 1776 in Saddleworth.²¹

      Email from Craig: The only info I have on John Buckley ABT 1776 is that he was from Lathom (or Lathorn) in Yorkshire (which is recorded in the 1851 census).
      
      There about 30 John Buckley's from Yorkshire born 1776 +/- 5, and almost all from Saddleworth. By trying to match parents to childrens names, Benjamin and Sarah fit quite well, but obviously not confirmed..

      During his time in Bolton he lived at 34 Crook Street and this is the address given on his death cert. with occupation as an 'Oil Cloth Maker'

  He died at the age of 68 in June 1873 in Bolton. He was buried at St. Stephens (E Bolton).⁶⁷

  Jonathon was born on January 21st, 1807 in Bolton and his baptism took place on January 21st, 1807 at Moor Lane Baptist.⁸⁴

    All the other siblings were Baptised at Moor Lane Baptist, Bolton Le Moors, Lancashire. Jonathon's record isn't indexed with FamilySearch.org.uk so perhaps Jonathon isn't part of this family.
    
    I suspect the following FamilySearch.org record may be a typo, and is actually 21 Jan 1807. This would then match with all other records, including ALL his siblings baptism records at the same place. The death index also suggests he was born in 1807.

    On the 1841 census, Ellen was aged 20 (which is rounded to 5 years), so was between 15 and 25 (i.e. born 1816 to 1826).
    
    The marriage certificate of Ellen and John has Ellen of "Full Age", and John and "Minor", but this appears to be the wrong way around. The 1841 census shows John older then Ellen. However the Baptism record does suggest she was born about 1816, so of same age.
    
    Ellen was living in Halliwell in 1837, and we only know she was born somewhere in Lancashire (probably East Bolton) from the 1841 census.
