Lucy's father was Owen Stanton and her mother was Mary Jane Hughes. Her paternal grandparents were William Stanton and Catherine Hughes; her maternal grandparents were William Hughes and Lucy Eddowes. She had two brothers named Edmund and James. She was the second oldest of the three known children. She died at the age of 1 in June 1904 in Birkenhead.²
