Hugh was born on May 30th, 1860 in Birkenhead.1   Hugh's father was William Stanton and his mother was Catherine Hughes. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, John, Owen, Mary and Rosanne.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven known children.  He died in Birkenhead.1
