Susanna was born on November 27th, 1789 in Blackrod and her christening took place on December 25th, 1789 at St. Katherines (B'rod).1  Susanna's father was Humphry Nightingale and her mother was Mary Hart.  Her paternal grandparents were Humphrey Nightingale and Alice Nightingale. She had two brothers and a sister, named William, Robert and Ann.  She was the oldest of the four children.
