Hannah, known as Ann, was born in 1819 and her christening took place on September 5th, 1819 in Horwich.1  Ann's father was Miles Nightingale and her mother was Lucy Thornley.  Her paternal grandparents were Miles Nightingale and Hannah Smith. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Miles, James, Eleanor, Mary and Rachel.  She was the third oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Robert.
