Ann Nightingale

Ann was born in 1829 in Sharples and her christening took place on November 15th, 1829 in Bolton.¹²

Ann's father was William Nightingale and her mother was Peggy (Margaret) Riding. Her paternal grandparents were Humphry Nightingale and Mary Hart; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Riding and Molly Gorner. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Joseph, John, Mary, Ellen, Eliza and Alice. She was the sixth oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 70 in June 1899 in Bolton.³

- Ann left home in 1949 to marry Samuel Mather, so was not on the family census of 1851. However, Samuel and Ann cannot be found on the 1851 census.
  
  Samuel and Ann had Mary Nightingale living with them in 1861 as a servant.
