Sarah was born in 1860 in Entwistle.1   Sarah's father was Isaac Mather and her mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Marsden. She had seven brothers and five sisters, named James, Simon, Luke, William, James, John, Andrew, Elizabeth, Sophia, Ruth, Alice and Esther.
